We are wearing one dress everyday for one month. Why? Because we want to raise awareness about the pressing issue of sex trafficking here in Toledo.
Toledo, Ohio is an American source city for domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST). We are ranked fourth in the United States with the FBI’s Innocence Lost National Initiative (ILNI) Operation Cross Country I – IV national stings in terms of arrests behind Miami, Portland, and Las Vegas. Since 2006, there have been 80+ juveniles rescued/identified from the Toledo area.
The Daughter Project is a non-profit organization in Northwest Ohio that exists to help girls recover from the trauma of sex trafficking and to help prevent others from being trafficked. When rescued from sex trafficking, most girls are sent back to their homes with no therapeutic recovery plan and many return to trafficking or prostitution. We support the daughter project and we hope that, by wearing this dress, others can support it as well.
Join us in our efforts to support these victims of sex trafficking by raising awareness. This doesn’t have to be by wearing the same dress for a month. Just telling your friends and family about what’s going on in Toledo can have a huge impact.
We invite you to follow our efforts on our blog. We will be posting pictures, articles, and service opportunities frequently, giving you plenty of ways to stay updated and get involved. I also encourage you to spread the word about the daughter project and visit their website. We need your help if we want to make a difference in Toledo and stop the enslavement of innocent local girls.
